I know, I’m pretty lacking in my posts again. There just always so much going on and I don’t see it getting any better with the holidays coming. I do plan to do my best though.

I wanted to let you all know that the new “subscriber freebie” is uploaded and ready for you.  It’s a set of coloring pages and it’s in perfect timing for Thanksgiving!  This will probably be the last freebie until after the New Year.

I also want to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you who follow along.  As I said, I know that I’m not regular in my posting and that makes it hard to follow, but you stay with The Treasured Schoolhouse and I appreciate it.

Enjoy your new “subscriber freebie” and please remember that I don’t send out the password.  It’s included with the newsletter each time one goes out.

Creation

Last night was the first night back to class. I was excited to meet my new kiddos and get back to religious education.

I always start with creation because well, that’s where we  started.  So much time is spent on rules, what’s expected, homework, prayers, and so on, that the lesson needs to be fairly simple.  I break creation down over a couple of lessons and classes.  Yesterday, I read the story of creation to them from the Bible.  I stop after each day to review what was created that day.

Then, we did a cut & paste worksheet that I made for class.  It’s a mat that has each day and what was created on it.  So they start off by coloring what was created each day.

Lots of colors and no scribbling!

Next, we cut out all the different days.

Good scissors skills!

Then, we glued them onto the mat and placed them in their boxes.

We love our glue sponges!
Glue them into their proper days!

Here’s the final project!!

I know that I haven’t blogged in forever. I truly do apologize for that!!  When life gets busy, I tend to give up blogging to allow for making time for other things.  I honestly will make an effort to blog more and keep you all updated on what’s going on.

I have a few things planned for the month of April, so be sure to keep an eye out here and follow my stores.  I just sent a note out to followers on TPT, so if you follow me there, you’ll see just a couple of upcoming events at The Schoolhouse.  The first thing is….

The Good Shepherd

Last week, we worked on The Good Shepherd in my religion class.  I enjoy teaching this one to the kids to help them understand how loved we are.  We are protected by his love and his son, Jesus, died for us.

GoodShepherdSheepMatch worksheet&coloringpage byElaineG SAMPLE

I made 2 things for my class to use.  The first is a worksheet.  It’s to match Jesus and his sheep to a sheep on the page.  A line is drawn to match the 2 and then colored to match each other.  The next item is a coloring page.  It’s Jesus among the sheep with the verse from John 10:11 (NAS).

Clipart has Arrived at The Schoolhouse

Well, I told you that I hoped to be adding a clipart line to The Schoolhouse and that’s happened!!

ArmorOfGod PREVIEW byTheIllustrated Schoolhouse1

This first set is for the Armor of God.  They’re in PNG format, so they have transparent backgrounds.  It includes the color and black & white versions.  There’s a total of 16 pieces.  They can be layered to dress the boy and girl in the full Armor of God.  You can get them for $4.

I wish I could take credit for these great pieces, but my husband is the artist.  He drew them on paper and then we scanned them into the computer.  I colored them and formatted them.  We hope you’ll go by The Schoolhouse at TPT or TN to check them out!!

A Note to My Followers

The Year in Review and What’s Coming in 2015!!

image not found icon

Hello to all!!

This is my first ever note to you, my followers.  I want to say thank you for following my store/shop.  I especially want to let you know I appreciate anyone who has made a purchase in 2014 or helped spread the word about The Schoolhouse!!

I’ve learned so much in my first 6 months as a seller.  I’d love to grow and expand The Schoolhouse.  Part of that growing is making sure that I have products that you need and can use.  Please feel free to contact me by using the ” Contact ‘The Schoolhouse’ ” button in the right hand column on this page.  I do accept requests and will make adjustments to products if at all possible.  I can’t always guarantee this, as it depends on what is needed.  I’ll do my best though!!

What’s coming in 2015….

  • All new products over $3.00 will be 25% off for the first 48 hours.
  • One freebie a month will be posted either in my store or on my blog.  Found out that this wasn’t the best business practice.  That said, I’d love to have more, here on my site for all you loyal readers.
  • At least one new Christian product will be added to the store each month.
  • Expanding into selling clipart drawn by my husband and possibly fonts with easy to use TOU.  We decided it would be better to have some clipart exclusive to me since there’s not much other out there in choices.

I hope that you’re looking forward to the New Year as much as I am.  I want you to know that I appreciate all of you and I look forward to expanding The Schoolhouse with you!!

Baptism of Jesus

We’ve been having class for a couple of weeks now, but this is the first real craft that I’ve made for the kids.  I have to say that they loved it!!

BaptismOfJesus craft byElaine1 SAMPLE

This is a simple paper craft.  Once completed, the kids can put Jesus in the Jordan River with John the Baptist, dip him in the water, and baptize him.  This project does need adult supervision to cut the slit in the river.  There are complete directions and supply list included, along with the patterns.

If you’re interested in the paper craft, just click to….

You can find a picture of our finished project on Instagram here, here, and here.  Notice that we didn’t glue it on construction paper, which I really wanted to do.  I do recommend that you do it that way, as is given in the directions.

Clipart © Charlotte’s Clips, Dancing Crayon Designs, Graphics from the Pond, and Picture Paradise.  They are all sold on TPT and used with permission.

If you use my freebies, please leave me a comment.  I love to read your comments and input….and know how you use them.  I truly create by the feedback that I get!!

Vacation Bible School

I’ve been making VBS (Vacation Bible Schools) printables for the past several years.  I do it especially for a lady that’s in one of my Y!Groups.  I think I’ve only missed one year, and I just go too busy and ran out of time.   I believe that was last year for 2013.  I’m once again working on stuff for this year!!

vbs-children

This is a list of all the posts that I’ve done for my VBS printables.  They’re all related to LifeWay VBS themes.  Here are all the VBS posts….

Round Up for VBS with the Saddle Ridge Ranch theme

VBS:  NYC – Big Apple Adventure with the Big Apple Adventure theme

V.B.S. – Amazing Wonders Aviation with the Amazing Wonders Aviation theme

V.B.S. – More Amazing Wonders Aviation with the Amazing Wonders Aviation theme

I’m also working on the Agency D3 theme for this year.  I’m hoping to have them uploaded and posted very soon.  I’m happy with how they’ve come so far and can’t wait to make them available to my group member….and all of you, my readers.

If you use any of these printables, please leave a comment or use the “contact” button in the right hand column of this blog.  I love to hear from those that use my materials and find out how they are used in class!!
