I Am Wonderfully Made

We just finished up our creation unit. I start them out with the days of creation and the next week, we go into how God made man and then rested. The following week, we do an “I am special” to go with God made me.

i am wonderfully made text

This year I’m used something that was new for me. I related it to Psalm 139:14, which states I am wonderfully made. This was so much fun and I loved having a verse that went along with the lesson. Here’s what we did….

We started by making our hand prints. I don’t know if they had more fun putting paint all over the hand or sprinkling glitter all over the hand print!

After they dried, we colored the frames around them and sent them home to share with their parents.

Next, we did a little writing practice by doing a tracing page.  I read the Psalm to them as they traced the words.

Again, I read the entire Psalm to them, then I read it sentence by sentence and they filled in the missing words.

With that hard part done, we moved onto the easiest part and that was the coloring page.

I have to say that the kids really enjoyed all the activities.  I’m so glad that I went this direction this year and I might just do it from now on!  If you’re interest in this activity pack, please check it out here or “add to cart” here….

Letter of the Week: Bb

It’s time to start Letter of the Week again!!  This week is Letter Bb.

I’ve created several new materials to go with Letter of the Week. The first item is for a writing center. The sheet contains the activities of color, circle, stamp, glue, draw, and trace the letter. This comes in ZB and DN font. Next is what I’m calling “Fancy Letters”. It’s all sorts of letter a’s and they must be sorted on the mats by upper case or lower case.

The final activity is what I’m calling my “letter formation skills”. These can be downloaded separately, but I’m grouped them together because they all work on skills using the current letter. There is a letter lacing for upper and lower case. There’s also a do-a-dot mat. One could also just color them, use stickers, or a number of other things. I’ve made a letter formation mat that has the poem on how to form the letter and is large for tracing the dotted letter. (This idea originated when I was asked if I could create something like what Confessions of a Homeschooler has, so I made it my own. The letter formation poem is from Little Giraffes.) Finally, there is a 4-piece puzzle for the upper and lower case letter.

The previously created materials that I created for Letter Bb aren’t available.  I haven’t had a chance to update them.  However, last year I never did get to a couple of the activities that I was creating.  I made magnet sheets and writing practice.  The writing comes in both fonts!!

Here’s a thumbnail view of some of pages….

It’s time to start Letter of the Week in my Y!Group and this year, we’ve decided to do the alphabet in order.  That means that Aa is first up!!

There’s also many previously released printables in the folder.  It includes a set of Play-Doh mats, 2 writing sheets, and a “My Letter Aa Book”.  All of these printables come in both ZB and DN font.  There’s a set of letter tile mats in there also.  The last item is a set of magnet sheets in upper and lower case.
